Highlight: Independent Artist Dre Dav

Dre Dav

Where are you from? Now?

Many People don't know this but originally I'm from Detroit. Highland Park to be exact. I moved to Ann arbor in the 4th grade and I've been here ever since.

What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishments thus far?

My greatest accomplishment so far happened earlier this year when I got the opportunity to play at GreenHaus fest in D.C. which was my first music festival.

Which gave me the opportunity to open up for major artists like Curren$y Dizzy Wright, Dipset and Gucci Mane

Who is an artist that you would love to work with?

One artist I would love to work with would have to be Curren$y. I've been following his career since I was back in High school and he's been one of my favorite ever since. He's one artist that I could listen to all day everyday and I definitely think our styles would mesh well.

Why do you feel it is important for your work to be heard/seen?

I make mood music. I always try to capture a certain mood or feeling when I write and then paint a verbal picture around that mood. In my opinion it make my music an escape place that you can truly get lost in. We all need a place to escape to at times. I just write the soundtrack for it.

Who is one of your favorite artists? Past or present.

I'll give you both, Growing up I always listened to Biggie. I think that's where I got the need for my music to be so immersive. Currently my favorite artist is a toss up between Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T they're both super dope artists that I admire.

What is the best way for you to be contacted for prospective work/opportunities?

The best way to contact me for opportunities would be through email I can also be reached on social media but it takes a little longer to respond at times due to high traffic and having to weed through the janky promoters.

What drives you to pursue your dreams?

My friends and family are my biggest driving factor. sometimes I think they want me to succeed more than I do and I cherish that. I don't want to let them down. My girl is also huge part of my success. She keeps me level headed and motivated. She's always bringing new ideas to the table and in the 6 years we've been together I think I can count on one hand how many times she's missed a show or an appearance. Her being there pushes me to be great. I also feel as though I give my city a voice. Ypsilanti is a neighboring city and has bred a couple major artists now like Polo Frost, and Neisha Neshae, But Ann Arbor has yet to produce a major Hip Hop artist and I hope to fill that void.

List 3 items you have to have to complete a project?

First I need Inspiration!

Second would have to be a Studio

Last but not least a couple Pre-Rolls and then the magic can happen.

Where can people find you on social media?

Everyone can follow me on Instagram at Dre_Dav or on facebook at
